4 month Pedi visit

We went and saw Dr. Agrawal today. The boys are doing great! Here are their STATS:

Pierce:
Head circumference: 40.5
Length: 22.5
Weight: 9#13.5 oz
Knox:
Head circumference: 40
Length: 22.75
Weight: 9#4 oz

Waiting to be seen!

We are finally on the charts people! We are only in the 5th percentile but we are there! Except for Pierce's noggin. He's in the 10th percentile! And this is for a 4 month old, not their adjusted age ( which is 3 months)!

Getting our 4 month shots. Boo!!!

Speaking of P's head, we asked Dr. Agrawal to take a look at them both because we feel like their heads are a little flat. She looked at K's and said he's good. Just need to keep doing tummy time and sleep him on his side during the day. P on the other hand, may need a helmet. Poor guy just can't catch a break!

I called and made an appointment to get Pierce's head checked out next week. Nick was off today for Martin Luther King Jr Day. Being that it was a holiday I thought there may be a chance we could get seen today. I called back and they were able to fit us in at 1030. We were there!

P went through a few different tests and he did awesome. When the reports came back, it showed that he is only 5% from the norm and that if we were to do a helmet, insurance would not pay because it is purely for cosmetic purposes at that percentage. So, great news!!!!

They gave us different ideas to help round out his head and want to see us back in a month. He will have another evaluation at that point.

Some of the things they have us doing include moving them to their crib to sleep at night, laying them on their side to nap, changing the direction that we change their diapers on, laying them across our knees on their bellies when holding them ( another form of tummy time!), feeding them in between our knees, sitting them in their bumbos, and of course more tummy time. Thankfully most of these things we already do but the keys for us are naps on their sides, laying them across our knees and their cribs.

Knox, laying across my lap :)

I am going to be honest. I felt nauseated going into that office. I felt like a terrible mother. Like I had done something wrong. That this was somehow my fault. When I expressed my concern to the guy taking P-mans measurements, he assured me that it was nothing I had done. He explained how positioning in utero has a lot to do with it. Babies find their spot and get comfy there. Since their heads are so soft, it will easily adapt to how they are inside. P was OP (occipital posterior) and this may have had a lot to do with how his neck muscles developed and why his head is slightly off. I have all the confidence that we can change this!

For now I am thankful for no helmet but realistically he could end up in one. Lots of prayers that they don't end up in them and that we can correct everything with the positioning techniques we have been given. And with our amazing chiropractors! If you think about it, please say some prayers that neither LP ends up in one. Thank you!!!
